The C3 Framework for Social Studies Standards was published in 2013. They were developed for states to upgrade their state social studies standards and for practitioners — local school districts, schools, teachers and curriculum writers — to strengthen their social studies programs. Several states — including Illinois — have adopted the Framework to use as a basis for revising their social studies.
