The Awesome Highlighter is a simple online tool for highlighting text in web pages. To use The Awesome Highlighter, just paste or type the URL of the website you want to highlight into the URL field. Once you get to the site your mouse turns into a highlighter, which you then drag over the text you want to highlight. You can add annotations to your page by clicking on the “Add a Note” button. Once you’re finished with your highlights, click on the “Done” button, you are taken to a page with a URL that takes you to your highlighted page, which you can share with others. You do not need to register to use the site, but if you do register on the site (it’s a free registration), you can save your highlighted pages. Besides being a good personal tool, I think this site has many classroom applications.
