Picturing America is a site created by the National Endowment for the Humanities to help promote a greater appreciation for art and American history. The interactive art gallery contains beautiful photographs related to events, people and themes in American history. There is a link to the Educators page, from which you can download a free resource book. The resource book provides background on the photos in the gallery, as well as ideas for using the images in the elementary, middle school and high school classrooms.
